Summary of Cover

Insurance is underwritten by AIG Oman. The customer will not hold HSBC responsible whether for compensation, processing of claims or otherwise.

Summary of Benefits

To insure purchases made with an HSBC Premier Credit Card against loss, theft or accidental damage. The cover period is up to 30 days within the country of residence and up to 60 days for other countries.

Limit of Indemnity

Up to OMR 2,000 per item and a maximum of USD 20,000 in a year per Cardholder. A fee of OMR 15 will be deducted on every claim.

Eligible Persons

Holders of valid Primary and Supplementary HSBC Premier Credit Cards.

In the event of a Claim

Just call 800 7 4666 within 15 days from the date of the incident for claims within Oman and +971 4 224 1000 within 30 days from the date of the incident for claims abroad. You will then need to complete a claim form and hand it over along with the following:

Original purchase receipt.

Photocopy of the billing statement.

Photograph of damaged property.

Damaged property when requested.

Full description of the circumstances preceding the loss/damage.

Original police report in the case of lost / stolen / wilfully damaged property.

The Insurer will then give you a cheque to refund the value of the purchase less a fee of OMR 15 per claim, subject to the policy's terms and conditions.

Excluded Items

Property that is covered under a guarantee or warranty unless the loss or damage is not otherwise covered.

Contact lenses and spectacles.

Dentures and other medical aids including but not limited to: hearing aids, artificial limbs, crutches, wheelchairs, walkers and braces.

Consumables and perishables.

Motor vehicles, motorcycles or their motors, equipment and accessories (including communication devices intended solely for use in the vehicle), bicycles, marine craft, aircraft, and model airplanes and boats.

Business property or property purchased to be used for a business purpose.

Cash, bank and currency notes, cheques, travellers cheques, money orders, postal orders, postage stamps, securities, negotiable instruments of any kind, bullion, rare or precious coins, documents or tickets of any kind, unset gemstones.

Livestock, pets, animals, plants or other living creatures.

Property sold or given to others except for property that is given to the Cardholder's spouse and/or children.
