Third-Party Only Motor Insurance:
In addition to comprehensive cover, AXA can also provide cover for customers wanting to opt for third-party cover only. This is the minimum insurance requirement to register your vehicle. The policy comes with an extended third-party property damage limit of OMR75,000 and unlimited third-party bodily injury. To upgrade your cover, some of the benefits you can include to your policy are:
- Extended storm, tempest and flood damage cover
- Cover when you travel to the UAE
- Optional personal accident cover for the driver and passengers
- Accident and breakdown recovery services
- Extended fire, theft, burglary and malicious damage cover
You can get HSBC Motor Insurance if:
- You're an Oman resident
- You're over 25 years old
- Your vehicle is less than 7 years old
HSBC Motor Insurance exceptions:
- Mechanical or electrical breakdown or wear and tear
- Overloading in terms of number of passengers
- Damage to tyres in isolation
- Using it for the purpose it is not registered for, e.g., commercial, racing, tourism
- Driver at the time of accident is below the age of 25
- Driver at the time of the accident does not have a valid Oman license
- Vehicle is driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- If the accident is due to a traffic violation
- Reasonable care is not taken, e.g., leaving the keys in the ignition
- War and terrorism
- Outside territorial limits

Why can't the insurance and registration be in two different names?
The Policy Holder should normally be both the main driver of the vehicle and the registered owner. The Policy Holder must have a financial interest in the vehicle. The traffic department will only register a vehicle in the name stated on the insurance certificate.
How do you calculate my insurance premium?
A number of factors are used to calculate your insurance premium. Amongst these factors are the age of the driver, length of driving experience, claims history, location, vehicle value and type.
Why can't the insurance be transferred when the vehicle is sold?
As the insurance premium is affected by the profile of the driver, it is not possible to simply transfer insurance cover from one driver to another. The existing policy must be cancelled. The new owner will then be given a new insurance policy that is required for registration purposes.
What garages will AXA use to repair my car?
If you have selected Agency Repairs then your vehicle will be repaired at the vehicle's authorized dealership. Otherwise AXA will select one of its own authorized repairers.
How does AXA's Motor Insurance differ from other insurance companies?

Can I choose which garage I want to take my vehicle to?
If you have opted for Agency Repairs then your vehicle will be repaired at the main authorized dealership. Otherwise AXA will select one of its authorized repairers. The garage that AXA choose will depend on the vehicle type, nature of damage and availability.
Why has my excess increased?
The standard excess is increased for high value vehicles, high performance vehicles, young drivers and for drivers with a poor claims history.
If my car is damaged due to a hit and run incident, will it affect my no claim bonus?
If AXA are unable to recover the claim cost from a third-party then unfortunately this will be treated like any accident and will affect your no claims bonus entitlement. On the other hand, no excess is payable on recoverable claims.
Does my policy cover off-road damage?
Your AXA policy automatically covers private cars when being driven off-road provided your car has 4-wheel drive capability and you are not using the vehicle in a race or competitive event.
