Follow these easy tips to prevent any potential misuse of your card:

  • Sign your debit/credit card soon after receiving it from HSBC
  • Keep a list of your account number, debit/credit card and customer helpline number handy, in case of loss of the card
  • Never store card information such as card number/expiry dates on websites/merchant apps
  • Use your card at secure and trusted websites
  • Update your contact details with HSBC in case we need to contact you for any suspicious debit/credit card transactions
  • Ensure that the merchant does not swipe or insert the card in any other system except for the Point of Sale(POS) machine
  • Use your card at known merchant outlets that you can trust and ensure that the card is swiped in your presence on the POS machine
  • At an ATM, always check if the card accepting slot is clean and not fitted with any external device over it
  • Whenever you are in doubt or suspect any fraudulent activity, report it to HSBC Phone Banking
